She’s In.

Janet Peckinpaugh, a familiar figure to television viewers around Connecticut, is seeking the Republican nomination for Congress in the state’s 2nd district.  Peckinpaugh filed papers with the Federal Election Commission on Monday, naming friend and fellow Essex resident Susan Gregory as her treasurer.

She’ll compete with three other candidates, Daria Novak, Matt Daley, and Doug Dubitsky, at the party’s May 21st nominating convention.  A candidate will need just over 50 delegates to qualify for an August primary.  A candidate who fails to reach the 15% threshold may petition his or her way onto the primary ballot.  Peckinpaugh’s late entry into the contest will provide the race a lot more attention than it’s been receiving.

The Republican nominee will face two-term incumbent Joseph Courtney, a Vernon Democrat.

[…] Kevin Rennie broke the story here. And here’s a lift from Dennis House’s blog. Just when you thought Campaign 2010 couldn’t get any more interesting, former WFSB anchor Janet Peckinpaugh is now running for congress.   Kevin Rennie broke the story http://www.dailyructions.com/shes-in/ Peckinpaugh worked at Channel 3  in the 1980s and 90s, coming to us from WTNH.  She later worked at WVIT.  Since then she created a public relations firm and recently appeared in commercials. I got an email from her and nothing — nothng at all! — about her positions on the issues. What does this chick expect? We are all going to fall in line like she is a Kennedy or something? That tidn’t work in New York so why should it work here?

My vote is with Daria Novak. So far I am not impressed and I suspect she is a RINO to boot.

From what I’ve seen, Janet has a shallow knowledge base. She’s commented about her knowledge of CT; perhaps that’s where she needs to start, as a state rep, not a representative in D.C. She states that she was in the senate for 3 years; then clarifies that she was an aid. She then became a reporter. Still not enough. She needs to start at the bottom and work her way up, for sure.

She just became a Republican. Then announced her candidacy. I don’t trust the woman, period.
